Salt is a mineral composed primarily of sodium chloride and it's used in food preparation and preservation.

The World Health Organization (WHO), however, estimated that current global average intake of salt is between 9g and 12g per day.

Now we are in the middle of a global sodium crisis. A study has observed that there are an estimated 1.65 million deaths linked to high sodium consumption each year.

Here are the effects of too much intake of salt on human body;

  • Too much intake of salt increases the risk of blood pressure.
  • Excess consumption of salt increases the risk of stroke. 
  • Intake of much salt causes kidney problems. 
  • Excess intake of salt can lead to brain troubles. 
  • Having excess of salt in your diet doubles the threat of cardiovascular disease for diabetics.
  • It causes osteoporosis.
  • Having salt much in the body leads to stomach cancer.
  • You feel bloated when you consume too much salt.
